I have been suffering from stress and depression for some months now and my GP has been treating me with Cipramil. I recently developed crippling upper back ache and he has prescribed Diazepam. That was Monday morning at 9am. I obtained them from the chemist and took one straight away and it seemed to help immediately. I took another one on going to bed hoping that this would guarantee a good night's sleep, the first for ages. I woke up one hour later. That is six hours ago. Since then I have been constantly tossing and turning in bed, walking around the room, going into the bathroom for no reason, coming downstairs to switch on the TV and then almost immediately turn it off, attempting to lie down again etc. etc. etc. I realy cannot remember a worse time. I'l be back at the GP tomorrow.
My Mother relayed a story to me about the first time she took her Valium, which was prescribed for muscle spasms as a result of severe scoliosis. ( Curvature of the Spine. )
She took it at night - and it had the effect of completely removing her anxiety. Anxiety is Stress, can wear you down, making you feel tired and listless - without energy.
So, having taken that Valium at night, she had a burst of euphoric enthusiasm, and motivation. She said she cleaned out every closet in the house, organized every drawer, and generally went bananas on a cleaning spree..... til 5 a.m.
This effect diminished soon enough though, as tolerance to Diazepam develops quickly.
i take valium for anxiety but have noticed they are not having the same effect as they used to. 5mg x 3,should i up the dose.
I took Valium for 10 years and never had a problem with tolerance, I only used 2mg each day for anxiety. I quit with no problem too but years later I started taking it again and now trying to quit slowly.
I am a 63 year old male who has taken diazepam in one form or another for at least 30 years. I can't find anything on the long term effects of this drug. I took it originally for panic attacks and at this point I don't know if the condition would still exist or if it is a product of the valium 20 mg/daily
I am 60 yrs. old, in good health aside from having severe scoliosis which leaves me
with chronic back pain and now, the decision of whether or not to try surgery.
My docs are getting hysterical about my Addictions. I wear a 50mcg./hr. Fentenyl
Patch and take 10mg. of Diazapam at night. This allows me a normal life. I never
feel high, I still feel some pain but NOT such that I am unable to do anything; walk,
cook, STAND for more than half an hour. It gives me freedom from pain and the fear
and fatigue that comes with it. I have never had a bad reaction in almost 6 years
of taking this combition and then some but I do have a 62 degree lumbar and about 30
degree thoracic curve.
My feeling is I would not allow my animals to live in such pain as I experience without drugs. Why should I have to ?
