I had taken two oxycodones each in a four hour period last night each twenty mg I noticed the next morning I was completly shaky, I had a hard time elevating my voice when I was speaking, it was almost as if I had I difficulty talking. I had also vomited and felt as if I really was unable to move and I remained tired most of the day followed by severe itching. my thought process also was completly impaired.

Works great but way too addicting

Was started off on 10mg OC's, every 6hrs for pain from compressed vertebra in my spine. Took away the pain almost immediately. Unfortunatly after a couple months my dose was up to 20mg's then 40mg's every 6 hours. I was up to 80mg's, twice daily until I started abusing them. Once my doctor found out that I was taking more than recomended, he tried detoxing me off them. That didn't work so well, and I ended up in methadone treatment for the better part of 9 years. Most of that time was for maintanence, but the last 3 years were for the most horrible detox w/d's you can imagine. I now take a high dose of Celebrex, Flexril and and Xanax, which works O.K., but now that I have become addicted to opiates, I cannot trust myself to take them again for any long term basis. Seems once that opiate addiction switch is turned on in your brain, you can't go back and turn it off. Also, no matter what, you will always need to increase the dose after a certain period. Tolerance is inevitable. As for the above story; from personal experience, sounds like you took too much and had a miny-overdose. I've felt the exact same way when I was abusing mine and took too many at once. IMO, this drug should be used only on the terminaly ill.

Oxycontin Formula Change Perdue

I had been on Oxycontin for 8 years, 2 months ago, I noticed an increase in itching, and a decrease in effectiveness. I thought I was getting physically worse! I wasn't sleeping, unable to leave the house, etc. The interminal Itching was driving me mad. My PCP was unable to explain this. I thought I was having a reaction to the medication I had been taking responnsibly for 8 years. My pain levels increased to apoint I was unable to even do simple things around the house. Last Year my Medicare Prescription provider tried to get me to change to MS Contin, to save them money. This casued the itching also so I thought I had become sensitized to the Oxycontin! During a visit to my pain specialist I found out that the Oxycontin was reformulated, in an effort to keep addicts from using it. Or maybe to increase profits. I have now tried to use Fentanyl patches, once again I got a run around from CVS Silverscript, because even the generic is more expensive. They changed the formulation without even notifying Pharmacists or Doctors. I am tired all of the time and depressed, and don't feel like myself. I feel like a guinea pig for the Phamaceutical companies, this is taking a very negative toll on my life! The Big Pharma Lobbyists are buying and paying for the politicians and regulatory agencies that are supposed to be ensuring our health. I am so angry over this and all of the Web Posts I have read that all say basically the same thing, there is no quality control of these medications, and the insurance companies can do whatever they want, even if it makes people sicker, costs medicare more money with ER visiots, and doctor visits. No body Is doing anything about this! This happened with my Gabapentin also, it hasd stopped working, so I stopped taking it. It turned out that it was being made in rat infested factories in India with no oversight! It ook 3 years for them to figure out there was no Gabapentin in the capsule, yet people were prescibed this drug, and Medicare apid for it! No criminal charges were levied, nothing! No body died, so I guess it was OK, for people to pay Millions of dollars for a pill with no drug in it. Our medical system is in shambles, we have no rights to decent care! I don't have billions in big Pharma Money to spend influencing our officials. No one will listen to me. I would not even need to take pain medication, if I had gotten adequate care, but a clinical director was given bonuses for turning patients away. These people have no morals, integrity or compassion, all they care about is making a buck at our expense!
