-Submitted October 5, 2011 Mixed Feelings about Cymbalta Over the years, I have tried several SSRI medicatios for depression and anxiety/panic with no success. I had some success with the SNRI known as Effexor but then it lost its effectiveness after about 6 to 8 months. My doctor prescribed Cymbalta, but not as a first choice because it has warnings about liver failure. I had to get bloodwork done, and it showed no elevated issues with my liver, so the Cymbalta was finally prescribed what I think is sort of like a last resort. I have been on it for a month. At first, I had a couple side effects -- Minor nausea and a bit of trouble falling asleep. The nausea went away, but I still seem to be much lighter of a sleeper on Cymbalta. This was pretty much the same thing that happend with me when I was on Effexor /a.k.a. Venlafaxine in generic/ JXJ
